The name of the CalTech seismologist who invented the scale used to measure the magnitude of earthquakes is Charles F. Richter. The scale is called the Richter scale and measures the energy released by an earthquake at its source.
The instrument used to measure seismic activity is called a seismometer or seismograph. It detects and records the vibrations caused by earthquakes or other seismic events.
The region of zero electron density is called a "node."
The machine that graphs earthquakes is called a seismograph. It measures the motion of the ground caused by seismic waves generated by earthquakes.

Earthquakes aren't given names, but they are given magnitudes, if that's helpful. The magnitude for the earthquake that caused the Hati disaster was 7.0.
