the south pole is different than the south magnetic pole because the magnetic pole is located in the water as the south pole is located in the middle of Antarctica

Answer 2

The south magnetic pole is opposite the north magnetic pole. But the poles on which the earth rotates are not quite the same. The magnetic poles move around a bit, but the pole of rotation doesn't.

The geographic north and south poles are based on Earth's axis of rotation. A planet's magnetic poles actually have nothing to do with the geographic poles on any planet. The magnetic pole is derived from the iron core of the Earth, while the geographic pole in theory may have been set by an early asteroid collision.

Let us see if we can get this straight to you. there are 2 norths. one is the true north and the other the magnetic north. The magnetic north is the one compasses always point to. The true north is excatly that. There is a slight deviation between the true and the magnetic north.

The Magnetic North Pole is the location in the northern hemisphere corresponding to the earth's south magnetic pole. Each magnet has a north and south end which describes the direction of the magnetic field it creates. Sometimes bar magnets are labeled with a "N" for the north magnetic pole and a "S" for the south magnetic pole. A north magnetic pole is attracted to a south magnetic pole but repelled by another north magnetic pole. That's how you can get two magnets to move each other without touching. They will either come together if the poles are different or push each other apart if the poles are the same.

The poles of a magnet were named after the direction in which the ends of a magnet pointed. So, the 'north' pole (originally, 'north-seeking' pole) of a magnet is the end that pointed to Magnetic North. This means that the earth's magnetic north pole is in fact the south pole of a giant magnet.

The magnetic north pole and geographic north pole are not in the same place because the earth's magnetic field changes over time due to currents of metals inside the earth's outer core and due to the charged particles that flow by the earth from the sun.

The geographic north pole is defined by Earth's rotation. The magnetic north pole is defined by Earth's magnetic field. (By the way, technically, and because of the way magnets ' poles are defined, Earth's magnetic SOUTH pole is near its geographic NORTH pole. But traditionally, the one to the north is called the magnetic north pole.)

Another Answer

The terms, 'True North' and 'True South', describe the locations of the earth's surface which correspond to its rotational axis in the Arctic and Antarctic.

The terms, 'Magnetic North' and 'Magnetic South', are used to distinguish the locations where the earth's magnetic field enter and leave the earth,. They, too, are located in the Arctic and Antarctic, but hundreds of miles away from 'True North' and 'True South'.

The terms, 'Magnetic North' and 'Magnetic South', are LOCATIONS and NOT magnetic polarities. The magnetic polarity of 'Magnetic North' is a south pole, and the magnetic polarity of 'Magnetic South' is a north pole. This explains why the 'North-Seeking' pole of a compass is attracted towards Magnetic North.

The Arctic (North Pole) is an ocean surrounded by land whereas the Antarctic (South Pole) is land surrounded by ocean. Although the North pole is 7% closer to the sun during the boreal (northern) summer than the South pole is during the austral (southern) summer the average temperatures are far colder in the Antarctic.

From 1820-1850 what was the main issue that divide the north and the south?

The main issue that divided the North and the South during this period was slavery. The North largely opposed slavery and advocated for its abolition, while the South relied heavily on slave labor in their agrarian economy and defended the institution of slavery. This fundamental difference in views on slavery led to increased tensions between the regions, ultimately resulting in the American Civil War.

What is the main difference between the upper peninsula and the lower peninsula?

The main difference between the Upper Peninsula and Lower Peninsula of Michigan is their geographical location. The Upper Peninsula is located to the north and is less populated with vast wilderness and natural beauty, while the Lower Peninsula is located to the south and is more densely populated with major cities like Detroit and Lansing.

The directions that lie between the four main directions?

The directions that lie between the four main directions (north, south, east, west) are called intermediate directions. These include northeast, southeast, southwest, and northwest. They help provide more precise navigation and can be useful for giving or following directions.

How is 90 north latitude different from 90 south latitude?

90 degrees north latitude is the definition of the Earth's North Pole which is ice flows that are melting. 90 degrees south latitude is the definition of the Earth's South Pole which is a continent. One is the North Pole, the other is the South Pole. They're a little more than 12,000 miles apart.

Difference of north and south magnet pole?

The main difference is their orientation: the north pole of a magnet points towards the geographic north pole, while the south pole points towards the geographic south pole. In terms of magnetic properties, the north pole of one magnet will attract the south pole of another magnet, while like poles (north-north or south-south) will repel each other.

What is the main political of North and south Korea difference that caused the split?

Read the following in an Asian accent: It was a race difference not a poritical difference. The North Koreans, because they're further north, are parer (whiter) than the South Koreans (who are more yerrow). As a result, the North enslaved the South. That's why they don't get along.

What is the difference between the northern hemisphere and the southern hemisphere?

The main difference between the northern and southern hemispheres is their location relative to the equator. The northern hemisphere is located north of the equator, while the southern hemisphere is located south of the equator. This difference in positioning affects the climate, seasons, and the direction of rotational forces such as the Coriolis effect.
