The food chain in the Amazon River starts with primary producers such as algae and plants. Herbivores like fish and turtles consume these plants, while carnivores like piranhas and river dolphins feed on the herbivores. At the top of the food chain are predators like caimans and jaguars that hunt the carnivores.
