∙ 12y agoThe wire you refer to is ACSR. Aluminium Conductor Steel Reinforced. The steel core is used to give the wire structural strength. When the conductor is spanned across great distances between poles or towers the total weight of the conductor between spans would be too much for just the aluminum wire to support. The steel center core is also known as the cables messenger.

∙ 12y agoThe steel core in large overhead conductors provides strength and support to the conductor, allowing it to carry heavy loads and withstand high tension. This helps prevent sagging and ensures the conductor maintains its shape and remains functional over long distances.
The steel used in the fence is a conductor of electricity.
Elm conductor is a type of electrical conductor made from aluminum with a steel-reinforced core. It is commonly used in overhead power transmission lines due to its strength, conductivity, and resistance to corrosion. The steel core provides additional support and strength to the conductor.
The better conductor is stainless steel.
Steel is a conductor of electricity. It can allow the flow of electric current due to the presence of free electrons within its structure that can carry the electrical charge.
Copper is used in electric wires because it is the best conductor of electricity that is known, apart from silver which is slightly better. For overhead wires a common material to use is aluminum because it is much lighter, although not such a good conductor. Overhead high-voltage wires usually use aluminium stranded wire with one or more steel strands in the centre to give strength.
the main purpose of steel in acsr conductors is for mechanical strength
Aluminum conductor steel reinforced (ACSR) is a type of electrical cable composed of an aluminum outer conductor and a central steel core. The steel core provides strength to the cable while the aluminum conductor carries the electricity. ACSR is commonly used in overhead power transmission lines due to its high strength-to-weight ratio and conductivity.
Overhead electrical lines are usually made of aluminum, and some have a steel strand added which is used to give the conductor more strength (not to carry current).
Steel-reinforced aluminium cables are used for overhead lines because aluminium is much lighter than a copper conductor, despite not being quite as good a conductor as copper. The function of the steel reinforcement is to improve the tensile strength of the conductor.
Steel is a conductor and not an insulator.
No, clay is not a better conductor of heat than steel. Steel is considered a good conductor of heat while clay is a poor conductor, meaning that steel can transfer heat more efficiently than clay.
The steel used in the fence is a conductor of electricity.
Stainless steel is not the best conductor. The best conductor is actually aluminum.
