Mount Etna forst erupted in 1500 BC. FACT!
Mount Etna is nicknamed the "friendly giant" due to its frequent but relatively safe eruptions that have allowed people to live on its slopes for centuries. Despite its powerful volcanic activity, the local community has learned to coexist with the volcano and even benefit from its rich soil and fertile lands. This nickname reflects the awe-inspiring and somewhat comforting presence of Mount Etna in the lives of those who reside near it.
Mount Etna's last eruption occurred in February 2021, with lava flows and ash emissions reported from the volcano in Sicily, Italy. Etna is one of the most active volcanoes in the world, frequently experiencing eruptions.
Only 77 people have ever died due to Mount Etnas eruptions, such as the 9 tourists who died due to small sudden vent clearance which showered them with ash, lava ect. Mount Etna is a slow flowing volcano which usually allows people time to evacuate.
Mount Etna's lava can reach temperatures of around 1,170 to 1,180 degrees Celsius (2,140 to 2,156 degrees Fahrenheit) when it erupts. These high temperatures are what allow the lava to flow and create molten streams as it moves down the volcano.

It only killed one person but extensive residential damage was caused, that is no where near as much as the cost for the annual fires though.
