The International Date Line is an imaginary line on the Earth that establishes the boundary between one calendar day and the next. It roughly follows the 180° meridian line and is used to mark the change in date as you travel east or west across it. This line is not perfectly straight and bends to accommodate political boundaries and geography.
The International Date Line is the imaginary line that separates one day from the next. This line, a jagged line from the north pole to the south pole, runs through the Bering Strait separating Russia from Alaska and generally follows the 180 degree meridian through the Pacific Ocean. It zigs and zags to keep all of the islands in one nation on the same time zone; so all of the Aleutian chain of islands are on the Alaska side of the line, even the islands west of the 180 degree line.
You can remember which side of the line is "yesterday" and which side is "tomorrow" with this rhyme; "Sunday in San Francisco, Monday in Manila".
"An" international dateline? There's only one international dateline. it is roughly equal to the 180 degree line of longitude, which runs through the Pacific Ocean from the north pole to the south pole passing between Russia and Alaska. If you are going from the east to the west and you cross it at, say 10:00 am on Monday you change the date to Tuesday. if you are going the other way, Monday would become Sunday.
After crossing the International Date Line, a hurricane is not reclassified. Its name and classification remain the same based on the original data recorded before crossing the Dateline.
