The seasons are caused by the fact that the Earth's axis is tilted. As the Earth travels around the sun, the hemisphere that is tilted toward the sun changes. Whenever your hemisphere is pointed toward the sun, it is summer in your hemisphere.

Earth's axis being tilted is an important factor in explaining why seasons occur on Earth. As Earth orbits the Sun, different parts of the planet receive varying amounts of sunlight depending on the tilt of its axis. This tilt causes the angle at which sunlight reaches the different hemispheres to change throughout the year, leading to the seasonal changes we experience.
