Biological variations occur in plants and animals when their physical appearance differs to that of the general population.

Mostly this occurs through a genetic mutation, and as such if the mutation proves to be an advantage to the plant in order to survive and thrive it can be carried forward in its genes to the next generation.

An example of a variation in a plant would be a species that developed tendrils to help it climb trees in search of sunlight, where the vast majority of plants don't do this.

An example of a variation in a plant could be different leaf shapes within the same species, such as some individuals having narrow leaves while others have broader leaves. This variation is often due to genetic differences or environmental factors influencing the plant's growth and development.
