Island?
That depends on whether the land is surrounded by water or something else. If it is surrounded by water, it is an island. If it is surrounded by water but is sufficiently large, it may be called an island continent (an example is Australia). If it is a land area completely surrounded by high mountains, rivers will flow to the land that is surrounded instead of to the ocean in that area. That would make the land an endorrheic basin.
An area of land completely surrounded by water is called an island.
Land smaller than a continent completely surrounded by water is called an island. An island.IslandThis would be an island.an area of land COMPLETLEY surrounded w/[with] water is an island ANS2:An island is only surrounded by water around the edges. The top is covered by air and the bottom by rock. It isn't likely that you will find an area of land completely surrounded by water. A submerged seamount would be surrounded by water on all sides but the bottom. You did say "Completely".an islandan islandisland
Land surrounded by water is considered too big to be an island when it is the size of a continent. There is no specific measurement, but generally, islands are smaller than continents. Once the landmass reaches a certain size and can be classified as a continent, it is no longer considered an island.
