The Confederacy wouldn't have been hindered to carry on the export-import trade with Europe, which was essential for its war effort.
The blockade, even if not unbreakable, was enough effective to limit and endanger the aforesaid trade. It allowed the Union to maintain a constant pressure upon its economy.
Furthermore the blockade fleets made possible the occupation of many coastal areas of the South, from which many joint operations Navy-Army had been developed against the Southern ports, further weakening their operational capacity and pinning down more and more Confederate forces to their defense, at the expense of the main fronts.
The Confederate coastline during the Civil War was around 3,500 miles long, stretching along the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico. The Union coastline was approximately 3,500 miles as well, due to control of most of the eastern and western seaboards.
The term used to close off a coastline so that nothing can get in or out is "blockade." Blockades are often used during times of conflict to restrict access to a particular area by land or sea.
Canada has the longest coastline in the world, with a coastline stretching over 202,080 kilometers (125,570 miles).
The Coastline was created in 1983.
Cuba is much larger than Jamaica and will therefore have a longer coastline. Cuba has a coastline of 3735 km and Jamaica has a coastline of 1022 km.

I have the same worksheet, I put down: If there wasn't a blockade, there would have been a good chance that the Con. States would've won, due to the export of there crops for the import of needed weapons to win the war. God Bless the Internet.... :)
The blockade essentially stopped the South's very lucrative overseas trade. The sale of cotton was a huge source of revenue to the South. Further it shut down the importation of arms, ammunition and other supplies sorely needed by the Southern effort.
