Subduction occurs near them, since the volcanoes are near the plate boundaries; with an exception of hot spot volcanoes that are away from them. One of the plates silde underneath the other and it feeds itself to the magma, making itself magma also. Tiny earthquakes happen too, that signifys the magma pushes up towards the vent and it eventually erupts. Hoped this helped!

Volcanoes are openings in the Earth's crust that erupt hot magma, ash, and gases. When a volcano erupts, it can cause destruction to its surroundings through lava flows, ash clouds, and pyroclastic flows. Volcanic eruptions can also have long-lasting effects on weather patterns and climate.
