The metal would melt (provided the coffee was hot; about 150F) and there would be a nice pool of molten metal where the spoon used to be. However, Wood's Metal contains lead and cadmium, which are poisonous. If you want to trick someone, you should really use Field's Metal, which is a nontoxic (but more expensive) alternative that still melts at low temperatures.

Wood's metal is a low melting point alloy, typically consisting of bismuth, lead, tin, and cadmium. If you stir freshly poured hot coffee with spoons made from Wood's metal, the spoons will likely melt due to the low melting point of the alloy. This can contaminate the coffee and release toxic fumes, posing a health risk. It is not safe to use Wood's metal spoons for stirring hot beverages.

How many dessertspoons are in a tablespoon?

Dessert spoons are not a standardized measuring device, so their capacity will vary from one manufacturer to another--the same is true of "tea spoons," "table spoons," or soup spoons that are meant to be used for eating. This is why they should NEVER be used to measure cough syrup or other medications. If you are using actual measuring spoons, then three teaspoons equals one tablespoon.

What is the difference between a teaspoon and a coffee spoon?

Tea spoons are usually used in combination with tea, and coffee spoons are most commonly in coffe cups. This is the actual difference. If you take a tea spoon into a coffe cup, it will "transform" into a coffee spoon, as there is no tea present. Except for when one actually knows the difference and invests in specifically designed flatware sets which include the smaller sized coffee spoons. Many people may consider they drink coffee out of coffee cups because that is what their cup contains, when in many establishments and homes, coffee will be served in tea cups which are generally larger than traditional (and correct) coffee cups for the purpose.
