What is the melting point of stainless steel welding filler rod?

The melting point of stainless steel welding filler rod can vary depending on the specific grade of stainless steel being used. Typically, stainless steel filler rods have a melting point ranging from 2,500 to 2,800 degrees Fahrenheit. It is important to refer to the manufacturer's specifications for the exact melting point of the specific stainless steel filler rod being used.

What is the welding procedure for welding P22 pipe to 304 stainless pipe?

I have not welded P22, but from what I read it is a low allow stainless that tends to get brittle. The welding techniques specified include a pre and post heat treat and on thicker materials a buffer layer of 316L with the final joint of 309 not sure what p22 pipe is but if it is carbon you should use a 308L filler with 100% argon purge 308L is a filler for fusing carbon steel and non carbon stainless. If it were 316 stainless you would want to use a 319 filler P22 is a steel alloy containing 2 1/4% chromium. It is weldable with most carbon steel alloy fillers such as E-70s2, ER-7018, etc. However, to weld it to a low grade stainless steel alloy such as 304, you would need to use a bi-metal welding alloy such as E-309, or ER-309. The above answer is incorrect regarding 308L being a filler for carbon steel to stainless steel. It is in fact 309 which is used for dissimilar metal welding when one component is stainless steel. I have also had good success welding two dissimilar metals together using inconel alloy welding electrodes such as INCO-182.

Is stainless steel a non ferrous metal?

No, stainless steel is not a non-ferrous metal. It is an alloy made of iron, chromium, nickel, and other elements. Stainless steel contains a significant amount of iron, which is a ferrous metal.

Is stainless steal an inactive metal?

Yes, Stainless Steel is an inactive metal

What filler metal is used to weld monel 400 to Inconel?

MONEL alloy 400 is readily joined by conventional processes and procedures. Most of the conventional welding processes may be used to join MONEL alloy 400 to itself or dissimilar alloys. The choice of welding product is dependent upon the materials being joined and the environment to which they will be exposed. For shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), MONEL Welding Electrode 190 is used to deposit near-matching composition weldments. For some applications, Nickel Welding Electrode 141, INCO-WELD A Welding Electrode, or INCONEL Welding Electrode 112 may be preferred. Properties of weldments deposited with MONEL Welding Electrode 190 between two sections of MONEL alloy 400 plate and between sections of alloy 400 and carbon steel plate are shown in Tables 20 and 21. For gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) and gas metal arc welding (GMAW), MONEL Filler Metal 60 is used to deposit near-matching composition weldments. For some applications, Nickel Filler Metal 61 or INCONEL Filler Metal 625 may be preferred. These same filler metals may be used for submerged arc welding (SAW). INCOFLUX 5 is used with MONEL Filler Metal 60. INCOFLUX 6 is used with Nickel Filler Metal 61. INCONEL Filler Metal 625 is used with INCOFLUX 7.
