This element is oxygen.
Red blood cells contain hemoglobin, a protein that binds to oxygen. Hemoglobin has iron ions that attract oxygen molecules and form a reversible bond with them. This allows red blood cells to transport oxygen from the lungs to tissues throughout the body.
Oxygen (O2) is a diatomic element with a bond between the atoms. It forms a covalent bond, where the two oxygen atoms share electrons to achieve a more stable electron configuration.
oxygen is an element on the Periodic Table of elements. This means that oxygen is an atom which could bond with another element covalently to form a molecule
The circulatory system, specifically blood, carries needed substances to body cells. This includes oxygen, nutrients, hormones, and other vital compounds that cells require for proper functioning and maintenance.
Adequate oxygen-carrying capacity of blood depends on the presence of enough hemoglobin in red blood cells, proper functioning of the lungs to exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide, and efficient circulation of blood throughout the body to deliver oxygen to tissues. Any disruption in these factors can lead to decreased oxygen delivery to cells and tissues.
This element is oxygen.
there is an inability for Oxygen to properly bond to the Hemoglobin molecules in the damaged cell
Oxygen rich blood is physically transported by arteries; which lead away from the heart. Oxygen depleted blood is transported back to the heart by veins. Arteries are bigger than veins and are set deeper within the body. Within the veins and arteries are red blood cells that technically "carry" the oxygen. Red blood cells are composed of the protein haemoglobin which is rich in iron. It is the iron that enables the red blood cells to "carry" the oxygen by forming a chemical bond with the oxygen atom.
depends on what elements your trying to bond. Oxygen and what?

Oxygen is an element, and therefore is not bonded with anything yet.
Red blood cells carry oxygen, they then take this oxygen to the muscle cells to let the muscles respire, in doing this the muscles cells get more oxygen to work at their full potential. Having more red blood cells may be an advantage in this respect

sulfur
Carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen itself all have this property.
