Crocodiles eat meat or pretty much anything that will get close enough to the water to be dragged in. The adult usually eat snakes, buffalo, cattle, or anything else that gets near the water. Including humans. The juveniles eat insects, shellfish and fish.

Crocodiles in Madagascar primarily eat fish, amphibians, birds, and small mammals. They are opportunistic feeders and will also consume larger prey such as zebras or wildebeests if the opportunity arises. Additionally, they may scavenge on carrion if available.
