A switch is a device that segments networks into different subnets. Segmenting the network into different subnets keeps one network from overloading with traffic. Therefore, a switch forwards all data in the data layer and sometimes the network layer as it filters the data. There are different types of switches that range from "dumb" switches that lack manageability and can monitor only 4-8 ports to "managed" switches that can get statistics on switch traffic, monitor connections, and hard-code up to 96 port speeds and duplex. Then again, there are "chassis-based" switches with blades or cards that perform not just switching, but routing and intrusion detection too! If you are interested in this, look into Cisco's Catalyst 6500 Series. Another type of switch preferred by large enterprises is the "Layer 3 Switch," because it has the functionality of a router .

Failed limit switch, or bad wiring. The motor will keep running until the headlight finds "home" ... ergo a failed limit switch as mentioned above. The sensor at the "home" position (headlight off) has to be tripped by the headlight assembly before the motor will shut down. The motor has no idea where the headlight physically is ... it keeps running until the switch is engaged.

Wiper motors have an internal switch that keeps the wipers running after you turn them off. The switch stays active until the wipers get to the "PARK" position and if the drivers wiper switch is off, then the wiper motor is turned off internally. I suspect the internal switch has failed. Unfortunately the switch cannot be easily replaced. Fortunately, wiper motors are not terribly expensive.

most likely it is your blower motor switch in your heater panel in your dash. the switch is burnt in the on position. replace switch from auto part store; if the switch keeps burning out it is due to the brushes in the blower motor being worn out. replace motor
