β 13y agono, its density decreases with its pressure as altitude above sea level rises. The composition remains the same but the quantity of air per unit volume decreases with height.
yes the atmosphere changes with elevation the ozone layer wich filters alot of infared radiation from the sun is made of O3 wich is toxic if we breath it vs O2 wich exist from the stratosphere down that we breath

The Earth's layers of rock are classified by their composition and physical properties. The main layers are the crust (continental and oceanic), mantle, and core (outer and inner). These layers are distinguished by differences in chemical composition, density, and temperature.

The Earth's layers based on chemical composition are the crust (made of rocks rich in oxygen and silicon), the mantle (composed of silicate minerals rich in iron and magnesium), the outer core (mostly composed of liquid iron and nickel), and the inner core (mostly composed of solid iron and nickel).
Fossils serve as evidence of changes in organisms over time and reveal major changes in the Earth's surface and climate. By studying the types of fossils found in different rock layers, scientists can understand how life has evolved and how the environment has changed over millions of years. This field of study is known as paleontology.
