  • The burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) in industry, transport and the generation of electricity, which releases Carbon Dioxide (CO2). and
  • deforestation (cutting down trees which previously removed CO2 from the atmosphere).

There are many causes of the greenhouse effect.

  • Fossil fuels - natural gas, coal, oil and gasoline. Burning these fuels raises the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and causes global warming.
  • The emission of methane gas by farm animals during the digestion process is another cause of greenhouse gases. Cows are especially bad.
  • Deforestation.
  • Waste of food - when food rots it produces an evil gas called methane which is an enemy of Mother Nature. However, it doesn't have to be since we can harness methane to create energy.
  • Over-use of cars/other transport. Walk or use Public transport!
  • Heating in houses - Heating and cooling your home uses energy in the form of electricity or natural gas. Much of the electricity is produced by burning coal or oil, which releases greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
  • Lights - they contribute to a significant percentage of electricity use in your house. Replacing the incandescent light bulbs in your five most frequently used light fixtures with energy-efficient CFLs (compact fluorescent lamps) can significantly reduce Home Electricity use and save you money while simultaneously making a positive impact on climate change. If every household in the United States exchanged five light bulbs for CFLs, it would reduce greenhouse gas emissions as much as removing 10 million cars from the roads.

Which form of heat transfer is caused by the green houses effect?

Radiation is the form of heat transfer that is caused by the greenhouse effect. Carbon dioxide is an example of a greenhouse gas.

What form of heat is caused by the greenhouse effect?

There are three types of heat transfers: conduction, convection and radiation. The heat transfer caused by the greenhouse effect is radiation.

What form of heat transfer is caused by the greenhouse effect?

The greenhouse effect is primarily due to the process of infrared radiation trapping heat in the Earth's atmosphere. This is a form of heat transfer known as radiation.

What happens to the size of the waves when reflected in the greenhouse effect?

Visible light radiation comes to us from the sun in the form of short wave ultraviolet light. This warms the surface of the earth. This warmth rises into the atmosphere in the form of infrared, long wave radiation, where it is captured by greenhouse gases in the greenhouse effect.

What is the best description that the terrestrial atmosphere is heated in irregular form with the heat of the sun?

The greenhouse effect.

How does the greenhouse effect on earth help in the water cycle process?

The greenhouse effect on Earth helps maintain the temperature that allows for the evaporation of water from oceans, lakes, and rivers. This water vapor then forms clouds, which eventually release precipitation in the form of rain or snow, contributing to the water cycle process.

What is the name of the effect in which gases in the atmosphere absorb thermal energy and radiate it back to Earth?

No such effect exists. You are, possibly, referring to the greenhouse effect some materials and gasses have. Some gasses are transparent to certain electromagnetic wavelengths and opaque to others.Energy, in the form of electromagnetic lightwaves, pass through the atomosphere. However there are certain gasses that are opaque, to a certain extent, to energy in the form of electromagnetic infrared, or heat energy.Energy in the form of heat, is blocked by such gasses and cannot easily radiate away.Which is exactly the same reason why greenhouses work. Hence the name 'greenhouse effect'.An excellent example of this is the planet Venus which has a runaway 'greenhouse effect'.

What is the process in which heat is trapped in earth's atmosphere by water vapor carbon dioxide and other gases that form a blanket around earth?

This process is known as the greenhouse effect. It occurs when greenhouse gases trap heat in the Earth's atmosphere, preventing it from escaping into space. This leads to a warming of the Earth's surface and is essential for maintaining the planet's temperature suitable for life.

What form of carbon is found in the atmosphere?

Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the main form of carbon found in the Earth's atmosphere. It is a greenhouse gas that plays a crucial role in regulating the Earth's temperature through the greenhouse effect.

The primary mechanism by which CO2 contributes to global warming is by what?

The primary mechanism by which CO2 contributes to global warming is through the greenhouse effect. CO2 traps heat in the Earth's atmosphere, preventing it from escaping into space and leading to an increase in average global temperatures.

Which gas contributes most to the greenhouse effect?

Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the gas that contributes the most to the greenhouse effect. It is released primarily through burning fossil fuels and deforestation, trapping heat in the Earth's atmosphere and causing global warming.

What effect does the rapid spin of Uranus have on its winds?

It causes massive, violent storms to form in the atmosphere.
