the actual molecules are not different, it is the structure which differs. Molecules in a solid are set out in tight rows, without any room for movement. they cannot change where they are. Molecules in a liquid have a little more freedom.

In solids, molecules are tightly packed together in a fixed arrangement, resulting in a definite shape and volume. In liquids, molecules are more spread out and able to move past each other, leading to a definite volume but not a definite shape.

Of course not. Ice, water, and steam all have exactly

the same molecules, made up of the same atoms.

Two differences between liquids and solids?

Liquids have a fixed volume but take the shape of their container, while solids have a fixed volume and shape. Liquids have higher molecular mobility compared to solids, allowing them to flow and take the shape of their container.

Why solids is not compressible why?

solid is a state in which molecules are closely packed than liquids and gases. the inter molecular distance between the molecules of solids are less or negligible.thats why the solids are not compressible

What are the differences of matter?

One of the differences that determines different states of matter from one another is the closeness of the molecules that make up the substance. Liquids are closer than gasses but solids are closer than liquids.

What do solids do when they soak liquids up?

When solids soak liquids up, the molecules of the liquid become entrapped in between the particles of the solid . A good example is how bread gets wet.

Compare Solids and Liquids using the Venn Diagram?

Solids and liquids are both forms of matter with definite volumes. However, solids have a definite shape, while liquids take the shape of their container. Solids have particles tightly packed together, whereas liquids have particles that are more spread out and can move past each other.

What makes up solids liquids and gases?

Molecules - They are more tightly packed in solids than liquids and gases

What are two differences between a liquid and a solid?

Liquids can fill the shape of an object, and Solids have a defiant shape. Easy one: Liquids are measured in volume's, and Solids are measured in Grams. THE MORE YOU KNOW.

Sound travels slower through gases than through liquids and solids because the molecules in gases are?

farther apart, resulting in fewer collisions between molecules. This allows sound waves to move with less resistance and at a slower pace compared to the more densely packed molecules in liquids and solids.

What are the similarities of solids and liquids?

They are all forms of matter. They are identified by the inter-molecular spaces between their molecules.

What property of molecules gives solids and liquids their definite volumes?

The close arrangement and strong attractive forces between molecules in solids and liquids give them definite volumes. This allows the molecules to maintain a fixed spatial arrangement, leading to a specific volume for the substance.

How do gasses liquid and soilds differ in respect of the spaces between particles?

Liquids have smaller spaces between the molecules than a gas, and Solids have smaller spaces than liquids.

Does conduction happen in gases?

Yes, conduction can occur in gases, but it is not as efficient as in solids and liquids. In gases, heat conduction primarily occurs through collisions between gas molecules. The rate of conduction in gases is lower compared to solids and liquids due to the larger distance between gas molecules.
