The South Pole has a desert climate, almost never receiving any precipitation. Air humidity is near zero.

You probably mean to ask if Antarctica is a desert, because the south pole is just one tiny dot out in the middle.

Yes, Antarctica is considered a desert, the largest and coldest desert in the world.

Yes, the South Pole is considered a desert because it receives very little precipitation each year, less than 10 cm (4 inches). The combination of cold temperatures and low humidity at the South Pole creates a polar desert environment.

Right, The South Pole is an imaginary point on the polar plateau of the continent of Antarctica. It is at an average elevation of close to 3,000 metres (9,800 ft). Its altitude, combined with its latitude, mean that temperatures here are the lowest in the world. The almost constant southerly winds make the conditions here even more inhospitable to life. Hence there is practically none, even at the bacterial level.

However, at the fringes of the Antarctic Peninsula, there are areas of rocky soil which do support vegetation. One can find about 300 varieties of lichens, 700 varieties of aquatic algae, and about 100 varieties of mosses.
