∙ 12y agoIt's much easier to convert units in the SI system.
Don't look now, but the SI system is the "everyday" system
in virtually the whole world outside the USA.

∙ 12y agoIt is usually easier to convert using everyday units because they are more relatable and commonly used in daily life. SI units, while standardized and easier for scientific purposes, may not be as familiar to everyone and can make the conversion process more challenging for some individuals.
All SI units are powers of 10. Multiplying by 10 will convert units.
To convert an SI unit to another unit, you would typically use conversion factors or formulas specific to the units you are working with. For example, to convert meters to kilometers, you would divide the value in meters by 1000. It's important to know the conversion factors for the specific units you are working with.
It doesn't make sense to convert units that measure completely different things. You can only convert units of length to units of length, units of mass to units of mass, etc.
You use conversion factors.
Unit conversion is used to convert quantities from one unit to another in order to make all units the same before performing calculations. This ensures consistency and accuracy in the final answer.

You can't convert that. You can convert from one linear unit to another linear unit, or from one square unit to another square unit, but not between linear units and square units.

You can't convert that. You can convert from one unit of length to another, or from one unit of area to another, but you can't convert between units of length and area.
You can't just convert any unit to any other unit. The units must be of a compatible type. Thus, you can convert a unit of length to another unit of length, a unit of area to another unit of area, or a unit of volume to another unit of volume. You can't just convert any unit to any other unit. Depends, what you want to convert to what. To convert between different metric units, powers of 10 are used. For example, a kilometer is 1000 meters. To convert from metric units to imperial units, you have to ask specific questions for specific units, for example, "how to convert inches to meters", or "how to convert pounds to kilograms".Depends, what you want to convert to what. Some units of measure are easier to calculate with than others. For example, all metric units can be easily multiplied or divided by units of ten to reach another unit of measurement.
You don't convert from units to "numbers". You convert from one unit to another unit. You can convert from km to meters, to millimeters, or to some other unit of length.
SI uses base 10, just like our number system, so it is much easier to learn, remember and convert between units.
It doesn't make sense to convert that. You can only convert units of the same kind, e.g., units of length to units of length; units of area to units of area; units of time to units of time, etc.
