In the 1900's with the invention of the car people were able to move further from city centers because they had a means to get around. As more people moved away from the city center more stores were built so the people living in the new urban areas didn't have to drive into the city. Eventually, malls became popular, factories were built close to urban areas, and other businesses grew to meet the needs of the new urban settler.

Urban settlements started as early humans began to transition from nomadic lifestyles to settled communities. These settlements often developed around areas with reliable sources of food, water, and shelter. Over time, the growth of agriculture and trade led to the development of larger, more organized urban centers.
