If one cotton ball equals .002 pounds than it would take 500 cotton balls to equal one pound.

This is a relevant question...it's foolish to say how many pounds in a yard. You should say how many yards of cotton fabric weigh a pound. Some sellers sell by the pound; others sell a number of small pieces that may measure a few inches each side. As is it hard to estimate yardage for such many sellers sell by the pound. Generally speaking one may estimate 3 to 4.5 yards of cotton fabric to weigh one pound. It does vary somewhat because some cottons are heavier than others. I am a quilter....I buy and sell fabric....I know.
