the main purpose (advantage) of sexual reproduction is that it creates genetic diversity within the population or species. It doe sthis by creating new and unique combinations of genes (and thus traits) by mixing the genes for each trait from the two parents.

Sexual reproduction leads to genetic diversity in offspring, increasing the likelihood that some individuals will possess advantageous traits to cope with changing environmental conditions. This genetic variability provides a better chance for the species to adapt and survive in new or challenging environments. It also enables the species to evolve and respond to various selection pressures over time.

What advantage does sexual reproduction confer upon a species?

The principal advantage that sexual reproduction confers upon a species is the continued existence of that species. If a species does not reproduce, it will die out.

What are the uses fro sexual reproduction?

Reproduction and continuation of the species.

Penicillium may have evolved from an ascomycete that lost its ability to carry out?

sexual reproduction, leading to the asexual reproductive mechanisms seen in Penicillium species. This loss of sexual reproduction may have provided a selective advantage in specific environmental conditions, allowing for the rapid spread and adaptation of Penicillium fungi.

What method of reproduction contributes to variations within a species?

Sexual reproduction

Does sexual reproduction help or hinder the evolution of a species?

Sexual reproduction helps evolution because it allows for changes to take place over generations. Without any reproduction, no evolution would occur because the species only sees change over time and generations, it cannot be seen in one lifetime. Plus, without reproduction, the species will become extinct.

What is sexual reproduction responsible for?

Continuation of that species.
