KVA is a rating for complex power (real + reactive power):
KVA = KVAR + KW
Also, there is 1000KVA in 1MVA, so there's at least 1000KVA in 1MW, but if the reactive power load is very high, there may be substantially more KVA.

∙ 12y agoThere is 1000 kilowatts in a mega watt . A kva is only equivalent to a kw if the power factor is 100%. Transformers are ofter rated in kva because the load can be a combination of resistive , reactive and inductive loads. There is always more to the formula that meets the eye. Good luck Bill

Its a bit of a trick question. 1 watt is one volt-amp except in situations where the power factor has increased or decreased that ratio. For instance with a power factor of .8 a volt-amp is equal to .8 watts. So with a perfect power factor 1 kva (kilo-volt-amp) is equal to 1 kilowatt. But if the power factor is something other then 1 you can find it by pf*w=va.
