The attunement process itself just takes some minutes, but you have to train to understand how Reiki works and to be able to apply it. Normally you will attend in class traning over a weekend or online training which can last anything from a day to four weeks. another opinion

However, there is no scientific evidence that Reiki has any effect over placebo and the way it is claimed to work is not scientifically credible.

The length of time it takes to become a Reiki healer can vary depending on the level of training you wish to achieve. Typically, Reiki practitioners start with Level 1 training, which can be completed in a weekend workshop. To become a Reiki Master, it may take several months to years of practice and additional training.

You can typically find a Reiki Master in your area to train you. There are three levels: Reiki I (self-healing), Reiki II (learning to practice on others), Reiki III which takes you to Master level and allows you to teach. I typically want my students to wait 3–6 months between Reiki I and II and a year between Reiki II and Master level but there are teachers out there today who will train you over a three day weekend. I do not recommend this as it is a lot of information to absorb in a short period of time and does not give you time to digest the info and ask the right questions AND it is a lot of change for your body to undergo in such a short time. In my experience, the students who do this compressed training either end up taking the classes again in order to get the most of the information or they end up giving up the practice of Reiki. This is a website called snip.ly/dy6301(COPY & PASTE the link) has a lot of holistic teachers and practitioners and you can look up people’s profiles by region and by the type of holistic techniques they use or teach.

I'm assuming your question is how can you learn the practice of Reiki? Reiki is taught in one day or weekend workshop/class by a Reiki Master. Anyone can take a class and there are no pre-requisites for the first level. A Reiki teacher can be found by searching several holistic websites or local alternative directories.
