Any tsunami worth monitoring duration would most likely hit land first. Tsunamis have been recorded to go for up to 3 and a half hours.
The actual event of a tsunami can last for a few hours, with the first wave typically not being the strongest. However, the impacts and devastation caused by a tsunami can last for days, weeks, or even months depending on the scale of the event and the affected area. Recovery and rebuilding efforts may take years.
