The pH of a solution is the negative log of the concentration of H+ ions. In maths form -log[H+]. So the pH of 0.01M HCl is 2 (log 0.01 is -2 and negative -2 is 2) because all of the H+ hoes into solution in HCl. The pH of 0.001 HCl is 3. Because you are combining equal amounts the concentration of the mixture is (0.01M + 0.001M)/2 or 0.0055M the log of 0.0055 is -2.25. The negative log of -2.25 is 2.25 so the pH of the mixture would be 2.25.

To find the pH of two compounds given together, calculate the individual pH of each compound first using their respective concentrations and equilibrium constants. Then, consider the combined effect of both compounds on the overall pH, taking into account any interactions or reactions that may occur. If the compounds do not interact, you can find the overall pH by averaging the individual pH values based on their relative concentrations.

Do ionic or covalent hold two compounds together?

No, they do not hold two compounds together. The forces that hold compounds together are intermolecular forces. Ionic and covalent bonds are intramolecular forces, and they hold the atoms of the molecule or formula unit together.

Two or more compounds mixed together?

When two or more compounds are mixed together, they do not undergo a chemical reaction to form new substances. Each compound maintains its own chemical identity and properties. This is a physical change rather than a chemical change.
