Diamonds are made artificially by simulating the conditions deep in the mantle where natural diamonds are formed: very high pressure and very high temperature. Any source of carbon can be used (I saw a documentary on making diamonds once where they used peanut butter to provide the carbon).

Synthetic diamonds will always be less expensive than natural diamonds, therefore the jewelry business now requires natural diamonds that have been cut to have LASER etched identification codes to prove authenticity. This only became necessary after techniques were perfected to reliably get colorless synthetic diamonds.

What is the difference between a synthetic emerald and a natural emerald?

Synthetic emeralds and natural emeralds are chemically the same, and their crystalline structure is the same. Only their origins differ.

How synthetic rubies differ from natural rubies?

Synthetic rubies are created in a lab using similar chemical components as natural rubies, but they are made under controlled conditions and typically have fewer inclusions. This often results in a more uniform color and higher clarity compared to natural rubies. Additionally, natural rubies are formed in the earth's crust over millions of years, while synthetic rubies are created in a matter of weeks.

What is difference between synthetic gemstones and genuine gemstones?

Synthetic gemstones are created in a lab by replicating the natural processes that form gemstones, whereas genuine gemstones are naturally occurring minerals that are mined from the earth. While synthetic gemstones have the same chemical composition and physical properties as genuine gemstones, they are generally less valuable because they are man-made.

It is a doctoral degree similar to Ph.D.(Doctor of Philosophy) but for physicians. Although the requirements for being granted one differ depending on the country.

How do synthetic diamonds differ from natural diamonds?

Synthetic diamonds are created in a controlled environment in a lab using high pressure and temperature, while natural diamonds are formed deep within the Earth's mantle over millions of years. Both have the same chemical composition and physical properties, but synthetic diamonds may have different growth patterns and trace elements compared to natural diamonds. Synthetic diamonds are generally more affordable than natural diamonds.

Does the price of diamonds differ depending on the country you're in?

Markets everywhere in the world respond to the laws of supply and demand. In addition, no two diamonds are ever **exactly** alike. So yes, the price of diamonds will differ by neighborhood, by city/ state and even by country.
