∙ 15y agoNo. Comets don't happen on a date, or in a week; they are visible for several weeks, or for months. Halley's Comet was visible for weeks before its perihelion on November 16, 1835; Samuel Clemens (whose pen name was Mark Twain) was born on November 30.
The comet's next perihelion on April 20, 1910 does match, with remarkable closeness, Twain's death the next day.

∙ 15y agoNo, Halley's Comet did not appear on the exact days of Mark Twain's birth and death. It is a popular myth that Twain was born and died in years that coincided with the comet's appearance, but it did not actually pass by Earth on those specific days.
Halley's Comet was last seen in 1986 and won't be visible again until 2061.
Halley's Comet was first recorded in 240 BC by Chinese astronomers. However, it was Sir Edmund Halley who calculated its periodicity in 1705, predicting its return in 1758. The comet was then named after him.
It is 50 % because ya gay
Halley's Comet returns once every 75-76 years.
Mark Twain was born in 1835, the year when Halley's Comet made its closest approach to Earth. Twain famously predicted that he would not die until the next return of the comet. True to his prediction, Twain died in 1910, the year after Halley's Comet's next return.
Haleys comet does not orbit the earth it orbits the sun; and it is expected to return again in 2061

haleys commet :)
Mark Twain's life and death coincided with Halley's Comet. He was born in 1835, the year Halley's Comet made an appearance, and he died in 1910, shortly after the comet's next scheduled return. Twain famously predicted that he would die when the comet returned.
Edmond Haley was an astronomer, who predicted the return of what is now "Haleys Comet"
Probably because they were uninformed. Science has come a long way since then and we know Haleys Comet will probably never collide with Earth and end all life.
it is Halley's comet and it was thought to be a bad omen in 1066
Halleys comet comes back around every 76 years.
