∙ 14y agoDetermine the difference in the speed of the light in air from the lightning strike (3 * 105 km/sec) and the speed of the sound in air from the thunder (3 * 10-1 km/sec) and calculate the distance to the lightning.
In 5 seconds the light travels so far that it can for all intents and purposes be considered instantaneous. We are left with the speed of the sound of thunder. 5 seconds is 1,5 km.

∙ 14y agoTo determine the distance to a lightning strike with a five-second time difference, you can use the rule that sound travels at approximately 1,125 feet per second, and divide the total time difference by 5 to get the distance in seconds (1 second = 1,125 feet). Therefore, if you count 5 seconds between seeing the lightning and hearing the thunder, the lightning strike is approximately 5 x 1,125 = 5,625 feet away, or about 1.06 miles.
A dominant strategy exists when a player always has a preferred choice, regardless of the actions of the other player. If neither player has a dominant strategy, they must consider their opponent's potential moves to determine the best course of action.

Factors such as system complexity, impact on operations, user acceptance, cost, time frame, and risk tolerance are considered in the selection of a system changeover strategy. It's important to assess these factors to determine the most suitable approach, whether it's a direct changeover, parallel changeover, phased changeover, or pilot changeover. Each strategy has its own advantages and challenges that need to be taken into account during the decision-making process.
Corrective actions may not be required in the strategy-evaluation process if the strategy is performing well and achieving its objectives, if external circumstances have changed that make the current strategy no longer feasible, or if the strategy was designed with flexibility to adapt to changing conditions.
