It depends; is it a lazy liberal lion or a pull yourself up by your bootstraps conservative lion. If the latter, the lion will likely trip over the bootstraps, and its own sense of self-importance, thus allowing the goat to escape. If the former, being one to waste energy, the fresh, liberal lion will pounce, securing a meal for itself and its socialist comrades.

It depends on the specific animal and the circumstances. In general, it is not advisable to try to outrun a dangerous animal as it may trigger a chase response. It is usually best to remain calm, back away slowly, and seek safety instead of attempting to outrun the animal.

I wouldn't even try. Running from a dangerous animal just makes it want to chase you. Simply stand still and wave your arms until it walks away, or slowly back up facing the animal. Never turn your back on it.

Poisonous snakes or reptiles, that's pretty much it though.

Usually they are faster and can out run a lion. The lion needs to get real close to catch a zebra.
