rats are born swimmers. While some of the ones bred to be pets would rather cuddle up in the palm of your hand they are natural swimmers and had to be able to swim underwater as they live in the sewers (and still do) for most of their species life.

∙ 15y agoRats are not adapted to living underwater as they are terrestrial animals. They can swim for short distances but cannot survive underwater for an extended period of time. Their bodies are not built for underwater living like aquatic animals.

Water rats belong to the Rodentia order and are classified under the Muridae family.
Rats are adaptable creatures that can be found in a variety of habitats, including urban areas, forests, grasslands, and farmland. They typically seek out places with easy access to food, water, and shelter, such as sewers, burrows, buildings, and trash heaps. Additionally, rats are prolific breeders and can thrive in environments with abundant resources.
Daisy can't live in under the water because daisy can't have too much water. Daisy must have stable sun heat and water.
Rats live anywhere. They prefer dark places, which may be either moist or dry, such as cellars and basements, under houses, and in thick vegetation. Rats are native to all continents except for Antarctica, and there are many species of rats. It is interesting to note that, before European settlement, there were no black or brown rats (the most common varieties) in either Australia or New Zealand, but only native rats which are quite different to the general public's perception of rats.

It is not so much that kangaroo rats can live without water: it's that theydo not need to drink water. Kangaroo rats need to drink little if any water; the seeds they eat are frequently high in water content, and kangaroo rats can also rely on water produced by their cells (metabolic water) to survive.
