Generally, the motor neuron that stimulates a muscle is called a lower motor neuron. One lower motor neuron may stimulate more than one muscle fibre, the lower motor neuron and muscle fibres that it stimulates is called a motor unit. Upper motor neurons (in the central nervous system) stimulate lower motor neurons (in the brain stem and spinal cord) which then stimulate muscles. This is a very simplified overview!

What refers to one neuron and all skeletal muscle cells it stimulates?

A motor neuron and all of the skeletal muscle cells it stimulates is called a?

A motor neuron and all of the skeletal muscle cells it stimulates together form a motor unit. The motor neuron sends signals to the muscle cells to contract and produce movement. Each motor unit typically controls multiple muscle cells to allow for coordinated and efficient movement.

What type of nerve stimulates muscle cells to contract?

Somatic type of nerves stimulate the muscle cells to contract.

What is a motor neuron attached to?

A motor neuron is attached to muscle fibers at a neuromuscular junction. This connection allows the motor neuron to transmit signals that cause muscle contractions.

What passes from the neuron to the muscle cells and what effect does it produce?

Neurotransmitters pass from the neuron to the muscle cells, leading to muscle contraction. This process is known as synaptic transmission, where the release of neurotransmitters triggers a response in the muscle cells by activating receptors on the muscle cell membrane, leading to muscle contraction.

What neurotransmitter neuron to muscle cell?

The neurotransmitter acetylcholine is released from neuron axon terminals and binds to nicotinic receptors on muscle cells, triggering muscle contraction.
