Tchaikovsky was married one time, to Antonina Ivanovna Miliukova. He married to please his family and to quiet rumors of his homosexuality. The marriage was disastrous for him. They separated permanently after only 6 weeks. Antonina outlived Tchaikovsky by 24 years, but spent the last 20 of those in an insane asylum.
