Oh, dude, in "Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie," you've got some personifications like the drums "screaming" at Steven, the pie "mocking" him, and the cancer "taunting" his little brother. It's like the author is giving life to these objects to mess with the characters' heads. So, yeah, personifications are all over the place in that book, adding some drama and making you think, like, "Whoa, can a drum really scream?"
In "Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie" by Jordan Sonnenblick, three personifications include the protagonist's younger brother's leukemia being described as a "beast," the chemotherapy drugs as "poison," and the disease itself as a "monster." These personifications serve to convey the emotional impact of the illness on the characters and emphasize the gravity of the situation. By attributing human characteristics to these elements, the author creates a vivid and relatable portrayal of the family's struggle with illness.

Here is a direct quote from the description of The Best of Chuck Mangione album "With his distinctive flugelhorn tone and trademark fedora, Chuck Mangione rose from the jazz scene to the pop charts in the '70s....."

There is a "sequel" called After ever After. It is told from Jeffrey's point of view (Steven's Little Brother). It is a really good book. If you have read "Drum's , Girls, and Dangerous pie" and liked it you would probably LOVE "After ever After"! But when the book starts it is when Jeffrey is a bit older then in Drums, Girls and Dangerous pie. :)
