For the sale of physical records (i.e. CDs, tapes, mini-discs, etc...) labels are paid through a distributor who is responsible for the manufacture and distribution of the physical product. These distributors sell the records to retailers such as Tower Records or f.y.e who in turn sell them to consumers. Major labels handle their own distribution. The artists are entitled to a negotiated royalty payment from the sale of each record. For sales through download services such as eMusic, Rhapsody, or iTunes the record labels have individual agreements that allow for a certain percentage of the sales of their music to be paid by the online retailer. For public performance royalties, that is royalties paid for song performances on the internet, TV, clubs, restaurants, or concert venues for example, performance rights organizations (PROs) such as SoundExchange, ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC are responsible for the collection and distribution of royalty payments to member artists. Virtually every artist is a member of most if not all of these organizations.
He has sold over 400 billion albums since he died
Elvis Presley sold One billion in his life time!
Elvis has sold more records then Pat Boone.
you would have to get a license and approval from Elvis Presley Enterprises www.elvis.com
Elvis Presley holds the record for the most gold, platinum and multiplatinum albums and singles. He has a combined total of 257 certifications in the United States alone. He is way ahead of the second place Beatles who have a combined total of 148. Moreover in the four months after his death, an estimated 200 million Elvis records were sold all formats. This record sales phenomena has never been duplicated by any other artist in the history of popular music. This led to the 1982 Washington Post story which divulged that Presley had become the only artist to have sold over a billion records worlwide.
Elvis Presley has been famous since the mid-1950s, and his records continue to sell worldwide, nearly forty years since his death in 1977. Katy Perry's career has been much briefer, and she has sold far fewer records.
no he wouldn't sell a house that he owned
There is great debate/discussion over this very question and one of the issues being that Sony/BMG has not updated/properly credited all of the sales of Elvis' records. However, it is safe to say that Elvis' recordings (worldwide) have sold in excess of a billion records.
Elvis Presley
On an auction site like Ebay or to a local dealer.
No. That would be impossible, as Elvis died in 1977, and CDs were not introduced until the 1980s.
The was the greatest of his time....and an amazing person some one said it to him people called Elvis the pelvis in a bad way because he kept moving them, but it was so hard to ignore they called him The king of Rock. Elvis was called the king because he sold more records then any other artist at that time. today he is called the king because he still sell millions of records around the world. he is known the world over by his first name. no one els has that honor. if Elvis never enterd the music industry it would be completely different then it is today..
