The Old Testament mentions no earth dwellers before Adam and Eve. The book of Genesis just says that God decided to create human beings, on the sixth day of the world's creation. Humans were to look like their divine creator [1:26]. They were to exist as females and males [1:27], to get the human race started, thorughout the world and for all earthly time [1:28]. Genesis then backtracks to telling the specific story of Adam, as the first man [2:7-8]; and of Eve, as the first woman [2:21-22].
