Pink Floyd,s founder/original lead guitarist, the late Syd Barrett, was replaced by David Gilmour, after Syd Barrett sustained irreversible brain damage after an acid overdose.
David replaced Syd after the Saucerful Of Secrets album was made. That's the only Pink Floyd album with the full line-up of Roger, Syd, David, Nick, and Rick.

They original guitar player of Pink Floyd was Syd Barrett. He formed the band in the 1960's. Unfortunately Syd was a heavy user of psychodealic drugs and these contributed to severe mental problems. After a period when there were two guitarists when David Gilmour joined, Syd dropped out of the band.
