The Moravians wrote the first Classical Music composed in America. Following the teachings of John Hus, a reformation leader from Bohemia (a region in East Germany), the Moravians came to Pensylvania in 1735 and were very active in missionary work.
Colonists who traveled to America brought religious classical music in the 1700's, but no famous composers in America came until maybe the 1800's with Edward MacDowell. The early 1900's had the most famous ones with George Gershwin, Aaron Copland, and later composers like Leonard Bernstein.

I've heard that there are 4 groups in reference to classical music. 1. The 1st group which consists of about 5% of the population absolutely love classical music. 2. The 2nd group consists of those who don't mind listening to classical-Roughly 40% 3. The 3rd group which is about 30% of the population dislike classical music basically because they've never really listened to it...so they are ignorant. 4. The 4th group consists of those who hate classical music, for personal reasons, etc..-so roughly 15% of the population But i think everyone should love classical music. Without Classical, there wouldn't modern music. You should appreciate & respect Classical even if you don't like it.

The Quakers helped to lead the fight to end slavery. They were the first religious group to question the morality of slavery. They were instrumental in the successful operation of the 'Underground Railroad" that helped slaves escape to the northern state and then to Canada.
