True - in part - 'Eight Days A Week' was sung by both Paul & John - in unison, until the chorus line, "Eight-days-a-week", where John sang above (higher) than Paul, but when they got to the refrain, "Eight days a week......I lo-----ve you", Paul sang the higher part. Generally, it's easy to tell the two apart - John had more of an 'edge' or nasally vocal, where Paul's is more mellow, although he could get raspy in certain songs. The two together, in unison, made for an ideal blend.

The answer is complicated but in general once The Beatles were performing their own songs only, the principle songwriter would take the lead (except eight days a week, principally written by Paul but sang by John). Even in the case of A Day In The Life, John sang the parts that he had written only.

Prior to writing their own material, lead vocals were split with Paul singing Elvis and Little Richard songs and Lennon taking the lead on others.

The early songs were true collaborations, with Paul and John often signing face to face. Over time, they started writing apart, with George now in the writing game as well. John's songs include: Help! Norweigian Wood, Ticket to Ride, Hey Bulldog, Yellow Submarine, All You Need is Love, Julia, Sexy Sadie, Tommorow Never Knows, I Am the Walrus, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Revolution, I Dig a Pony, The Ballad of John and Yoko, Glass Onion, Happiness is a Warm Gun, and the posthumus Free as a Bird and Real Love.

Most songs Lennon wrote were with McCartney so most of the songs are credited to both of them. But I believe "I Am the Walrus" was one song he wrote, just a guess, I'm not sure.
