The Saxophone is not part of the standard orchestra. However any composer or arranger might add one if he or she wishes. The British composer Ralph vaughan Williams used one or more on several occaisions.
Sadly, no. They would rather be drowned out by the string instruments, or they would outplay the other woodwind instruments because they have a much more open tone as they are perceptibly louder.
Another dilemma is that the saxophone was made in 1840 and did not become popular until the early 1900's. As most Classical Music was written between 1730 and 1820, there was not an instrument to put into the music.
If a saxophone is put into a symphonic orchestra most of the orchestral repertoire for sax is French music; as there is a difference in the pieces with great American or Spanish orchestras.
