In 1895, any devices to generate and detect radio waves were found only in Physics laboratories. No 'radios' were manufactured or sold. Nobody really missed it, since there were no good shows on to listen to yet.

The first radios as we know them started production in 1909, but really did not take off until the 1920s when NBC created one of the first public stations. (and radio units became cheap enough to be in homes around the US and Briton) But the first radios were called "Wireless Telegraphy" and was invented in 1897.
The idea of a cell phone was first thought of in he 1930's when police radios first began. The first model was made in 1947 by Bell Labs, but it will not be until 1974 when Dr. Martin Cooper made one that worked. They were for government use and were not sold to the public until 1984
