He joined The Vegas Kings as bass player in high school...Which changed their name a couple of times and disbanded 1967. In 1969 he made the band Elf, and later went into Rainbow, which disbanded in 1979 In 1979, Dio joined Black Sabbath after they fired Ozzy Osbourne. In 1980, he then went on to his own band which was titled Dio. In 2006 he created Heaven & @#!*% with former Black Sabbath members. He died while in that band on May 16, 2010 of cancer.
