The Wall by Pink Floyd is definitely the darkest of their albums. with drugs, nazism, and the thoughts of a madman, it's easily the deepest and darkest album they have.
PS, nothing in The Wall happened in real life. it's loosely based on all rock stars, not anyone in particular.
Also, Dark Side of the moon was on the bilboard for nearly 25 years. It made people realize things, about life... It really made people think, and even today it is listened to. The dark side of the moon was Published in 1973. Amazing Album. It changed my life. So did the wall.
It really depends on what you consider to be "dark." "Dark Side of The Moon" was about corruption and how bad society was but also about their lost deranged band member, Syd Barrett. "Animals" was a very political album with themes about society and attacks on political people such as Mary Whitehouse. "The Wall" is probably the "Darkest" album. It is basically Roger Waters biography and has themes such as loosing relationships, nazis, insanity, depression, drugs etc. Finally, "The Final Cut" is a pretty dark, sad album as well. It was a "critique" of the Falklands War going on at that time.
Hope that helped!
The Wall

If you have an original copy (isn't that an oxymoron?), they came with a poster and sheet of stickers that were based on a "pyramids of Egypt" motif.

Very little. It sold over 11 million copies in the US alone and it is only 30 years old, so it is pretty common. Still a good album.
