"Yesterday" is a song by English rock band the Beatles written by Paul McCartney (credited to Lennon-McCartney) first released on the album Help! in the United Kingdom in August 1965.
They didn't, only Paul did. He woke up one day with a tune in his head and he thought it was an old jazz tune he had heard somewhere so he asked everyone if they knew it and they didn't. It's working title was Scrambled Eggs. Only Paul and session musicians played on the track, and was the first to have outsiders play and only one Beatle play on it.
The song 'Yesterday' was originally called scrambled eggs because Paul and John couldn't come up with a suitable name for it
