To list all the musicians that Ella worked with over her long career would need an extremely long answer. But, here's a few. Her first job was with the Chick Webb Orchestra and when Chick died, she took over the leadership of that orchestra. Later when she decided to work with just a rhythm trio, she had a long associations with pianists Paul Smith, now semi-retired and living in Southern California and Tommy Flanagan, bass player Ray Brown and drummer Ed Thigpen. She recorded with a whole host of people including the orchestras of Nelson Riddle, Count Basie, Buddy Bregman and Duke Ellington, And, she did albums with trumpeter Louis Armstrong, guitarists Joe Pass and Herb Ellis.
Ella Fitzgerald collaborated with many wonderful musicians including Bill Kenny and the Ink Spots and Louis Armstrong. She also worked with Count Basie, Joe Pass and Duke Ellington.
She didn't invent any music, but sang jazz.
