Its about a relationship she had with a guy when he was there one minute then he was gone. Then its talking about how he tried to get a second chance and she said no. He might have cheated on her or just left her, but I think that's what its generally about :)

I read that Jar of Hearts was co-written by Christina Perri, Drew Lawrence, and Barrett Yeretsian. NPR's Marketplace did a story about how Yeretsian made it to the top 1% income earners with his share of proceeds from the song but oddly, the story makes it sound like he is the only one who wrote the song.
