Lyon & Healy is best known as a harp maker, although it seems at least some time in the past they did produce a number of "white labeled" pianos - that is, pianos produced by a private company and labeled with the Lyon & Healy name. Unfortunately, serial number information isn't readily available online, though the Bluebook of Pianos does offer a free lookup service, if you're so inclined to inquire directly (see links for reference).
I have one that the serial number is close and it was built in 1833. Not at home so I don't have exact serial #, but this seems close.
Do you have any idea how much it is worth or any on in the market for one? Mine is a upright baby grand with ivory keys. Signed and dated on back.
Thanks for any info.

Located in the historic factory building on North Ogden Avenue, with views of the city skyline behind the stage, Lyon & Healy Hall promises to be one of the country's premier venues for the appreciation of chamber music, and harp music in particular. Lyon & Healy was founded in 1864 by George Washburn Lyon and Patrick J. Healy. The latter was the driving force behind decades of groundbreaking innovation in engineering and craftsmanship. From its earliest days, Lyon & Healy has been a pioneer in the music world, producing the first American-made harp and introducing the upright piano, Thomas Edison's gramophone, the player piano, the spinet piano, and the electric organ. As one of the oldest commercial institutions in the city, its prestige in the musical life of Chicago was well-established before the great fire of 1871. That depends on what model and what condition it is in. It also depends on what 'vintage means.' Camp Ukuleles where made by and then for the Gretsch Music Company, which is still in business today.Short answer $50 basic model needing some minor repairs to $500 for a Lyon Healy with gold leaf needing nothing.

One of the most expensive harps ever sold was the "Grandjany Special" Lyon & Healy harp, which was sold for around $190,000. This harp was custom-made and featured special design elements and enhancements that added to its value.

I'm not too sure about Camacs, but I have a Lyon & Healy style 17, which is a semi-grande, and it fits great in my Nissan Murano. Also, any mini-van will fit a harp if you column-load it. When you go check out some cars at the dealerships, bring your harp cover to see if it will fit in the car. I know the Harp Column magazine (www.harpcolumn.com) puts out an extensive list of "harpmobiles" and ranks them on a number of factors. Hope I could help.
