The group of people so low in status that they are not even considered part of the class system of India are the?
The Dalit is the name for the low caste members of India. Dalit,
in the Marathi language, means "ground" or "crushed to pieces."
Historically the Dalit do the jobs no one else wants to do:
butchering, garbage cleanup, janitorial jobs, etc. In the past, the
Dalit were not allowed into temples or schools, and in some cases
the Dalit were not even allowed in the village.
Much of the discrimination shown toward the Dalit is gone in
present day India. In urban areas there is little discrimination
against the Dalit; however, in some rural areas the discrimination
still exists.
